One person's recovery can transform an entire community

Every weekday, someone walks into the Kennedy Street Recovery Hub for the first time. They might be nervous. They might be exhausted. They are met with a cuppa, a chat and someone who has been where they are.

That welcome is free. It always has been. It only exists because people like you choose to fund it.

When someone finds recovery, it does not stop with them. It means a parent is there at bedtime, a colleague turns up on Monday and a friend can rely on them again. It means someone who once walked in feeling alone comes back as a volunteer and holds the door open for the next person.

Brighton and Hove needs this more than most. Our city has the 9th highest rate of drug poisoning deaths of 153 areas in England, almost double the national rate (2020 to 2022, source: Brighton & Hove City Council).

Behind every number is someone's child, parent or friend. Recovery is how that story changes, and it happens best in a community that welcomes people back.

This is how we keep the Hub open, grow our workshops, offer more one-to-one support and reach more people through outreach.

We are a small, independent charity with no single big funder behind us. December can be one of the loneliest and hardest months for people in early recovery, and Big Give week is one of the most important weeks of our year, because for seven days your gift can do twice as much.
